PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved a natural gas rate hike and rate decrease for MidAmerican Energy customers.

MidAmerican attorney Eric Sears outlined their initial rate hike.

Sears said they now want to roll back the total rate increase.

Commissioner Chris Nelson had a problem with the rate notice that MidAmerican wanted to send to customers.

Following some language changes in the notice, the Commission approved the rate plan on a three to zero vote. MidAmerican serves about one hundred thousand natural gas customers in southeast South Dakota.
