PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- As natural gas prices rise, so will the cost of electricity.
South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says power production costs will pass through to consumers.
As power production from wind, solar and other sources cranks up, there will be a continued need for power lines. Nelson says there are several projects coming along.
Nelson says one of the larger projects will run from northeast South Dakota into Minnesota.
Close to seventy percent of electricity produced in the state comes from renewable sources.
