PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission will let utilities take the lead in electric vehicle policies.
The federal government set up a requirement that each state decide on how to handle that technology.
Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says there are lots of details with electric vehicles.
Nelson says each utility has a unique system.
Commissioner Gary Hanson says most utilities have already developed plans.
The commission voted unanimously to let the utilities decide how they want to handle electric vehicle charging.
