PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has finally finalized the list of entities seeking party status in the application for a proposed carbon dioxide pipeline through South Dakota. Confusion over proposed routes for the pipeline and the immense number of applications for party status pushed the process beyond the deadline for intervention. P-U-C Staff Attorney Kristen Edwards no deadline extension was granted.
Commission Chair Chris Nelson says he wanted to stay constant in the approval process.
Commissioner Gary Hanson offered a substitute motion to include some of those left off Nelson’s list.
With Tuesday’s action by the P-U-C, approximately 430 entities have been granted party status in Summit Carbon Solution’s application to build a carbon transport pipeline from ethanol plants in the upper Midwest to a below ground sequestration location in North Dakota.
