PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The Redistricting Committees of the South Dakota legislature hold their first meetings of the interim today in Pierre.
Representative Ryan Cwach of Yankton, a member of the House committee, says they had a brief meeting in Pierre before the end of the legislative session.
Cwach says they plan to hold public hearings this fall.
Cwach says they hope to get some usable information from the US Census Bureau by late summer.
With the release of the state population, each district will have to grow by about 2,200 people to stay balanced.
