PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota House and Senate committees working on redistricting have decided to go their own ways with different map proposals.
Senate Committee vice chair Jim Bolin of Canton says it’s something to watch.
Bolin says most of the disagreements center on districts in and around Sioux Falls.
The committees will be on the road starting next week for public input sessions. Bolin says that may help the committees past their jam.
Committee member, Representative Ryan Cwach of Yankton, says dividing up the area around Sioux Falls is the major problem.
Cwach says the divide seems to be over numbers in a district rather than where the lines should be drawn.
Cwach says the focus should be on cohesive districts rather than the perfect number.
