SD reports 12 more COVID-related deaths, one in Brown Co., three in Walworth

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 12 more COVID-related deaths and active infections rose by more than 1,000 according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths included one in Brown County, three in Walworth County, two in both Codington and Turner counties, and one each in Beadle, Minnehaha, Oglala Lakota and Yankton counties. The state’s total of COVID-related deaths now stands at 415.

There were 1,389 new confirmed cases (along with 171 new probable cases) and 489 new recoveries, increasing the amount of active cases to a record 13,520. Hospitalizations went down 10 to 403. So far, the state has had 42,896 confirmed cases and 30,624 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County reported 62 new confirmed cases and 14 new recoveries, increasing active infections to 435. The county has had 2,095 overall confirmed cases and 1,654 recoveries. There have been six COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 11,904 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 4,633, and Lincoln County with 2,953. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,560, Brookings with 1,492, Beadle with 1,324, Davison with 999, Meade with 995, and Oglala Lakota with 990.
