SD reports single-day record 19 COVID-related deaths, one in Brown County

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported a single-day record 19 COVID-related deaths, including one in Brown County, and also added more than 500 active cases according to totals released today by the South Dakota Department of Health. The prior record for deaths in a single day was 14 on two different occasions. The deaths (which also included residents in Roberts and Walworth counties) pushed the state’s total to 403.

South Dakota also had 918 new confirmed cases and 452 new recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to a record total of 12,462. So far, the state has had 41,507 confirmed cases and 30,135 recoveries. There are currently 413 people hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County reported 19 new confirmed cases and 16 new recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections slightly to 388. In all, the county has had 2,033 confirmed cases, 1,640 recoveries and five COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 11,495 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 4,466, and Lincoln County with 2,830. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,502, Brookings with 1,466, Beadle with 1,290, Meade with 962, Davison with 957, Oglala Lakota with 953, and Bon Homme with 950.
