CUSTER, S.D.(WNAX)- The sale last week of the former Star Academy near Custer was the latest in a string of public land sales for the state.
South Dakota School & Public Lands Commissioner Ryan Brunner says they have moved a lot of land over the past few years.
Brunner says the Star Academy sale took some time and several attempts.
Brunner says it was a large property to move all at once.
The facility was used as a juvenile detention center but was closed in 2016. The money from the sale will go into a trust fund for the Department of Corrections.
