SD Senate leaders react to HB1100 not being agreed to by the SD legislature

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- A conference committee between the South Dakota House and Senate was unable to reach agreement on HB1100, which would have delayed implementation of medical marijuana to January first. Under “IM26” passed last November, the law becomes effective July first.

Senate Minority Leader Troy Heinert of Mission says they were running out of time.

Heinert says they followed the will of the people.

Senate Majority Leader Gary Cammack of Union Center says he is worried about the issue.

There will be a scramble to write the rules for medical marijuana before July first.
