SD Snow Queen Festival begins Saturday with talent show, Junior Queen coronation

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Aberdeen American News)- More than a week of South Dakota Snow Queen Festival activities begin Friday in Aberdeen.

The 76th Snow Queen Festival features the Junior Snow Queen coronation on Saturday and continues with activities throughout the week, culminating with coronation of the next Senior Snow Queen on Jan. 15.

Junior Snow Queen features 25 contestants from across the state. In all there are 28 Senior Snow Queen contestants. Both events begin at 7 p.m. at the Aberdeen Civic Theatre. Coronation tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets are available at area flower shops or at the door.

As always, the public will have an opportunity to guess the identity of Frosty, the festival’s mystery snowman. Clues are published in the American News in advance of the festival.

To guess Frosty’s identity, people can email their name, address, phone number and guess to eflannery@aberdeennews.com. Guesses by phone are not accepted. The winner, who receives a one-year subscription to the American News, will be selected at random from all the correct submissions.

American News employees and South Dakota Snow Queen Festival committee members and families are not eligible. The American News reserves the right to reject any entry.
