SD terminating federal pandemic unemployment benefits programs June 26

PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- On June 26th South Dakota will end participation in national pandemic-related unemployment assistance programs.

Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman says the termination affects three federal government programs being used in the state.

Hultman says people currently receiving unemployment should continue to file their weekly request for payment through the week ending June 26, 2021.

She says business owners across the state say they would expand– if they could find enough workers.

Hultman says South Dakota will continue to pay regular State unemployment claims. She says Job Service offices are open and ready to support people in need of additional skills or training, returning to the workforce or who need an extra hand in overcoming employment barriers.
