SDHSAA adopts policy changes in light of pandemic

PIERRE, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — The South Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors held a special meeting on Monday, Aug. 24.

One item on the agenda was the consideration of temporary changes to the SDHSAA Constitution in regards to students at schools who are unable to compete in fall 2020 activities due to county, community, tribal ordinances and/or orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently 15 schools across South Dakota have declared that they will not participate in fall activities. Executive Director of the SDHSAA John Krogstrand talked about the temporary policy adopted on Monday.

 

Krogstrand also talked about changes made for playoff qualification changes this fall.

Krogstrand said the Activities Association are in the beginning stages of preparing for the winter sports season.
