SD’s U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons looking to address drug crisis

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- South Dakota’s new U-S Attorney, Ron Parsons hit the ground running after being confirmed by the U-S Senate in October.

This is his second appointment as U-S Attorney.

He says the Trump Administration has set ambitious goals to deal with drug trade.

Parsons served in the office during President Trump’s first term…and received Trump’s nomination again this year.

Dealing with drug trade is one of his top priorities.

Parsons recently met with Attorney General Pam Bondi…and says the Trump team is taking an aggressive approach that goes beneath the surface to deal with drug trade.

South Dakota Law Enforcement is playing a key role in trying to take down Drug Cartels…some of the most powerful crime organizations in the world.

Parsons says local, state and federal agencies work closely together, laying the groundwork for holding drug kingpins responsible.

In the past month, the U-S Attorney’s office has secured sentences totaling nearly 300 years in prison for offenders convicted of drug, child exploitation and violent crimes.
