RAPID CITY, S.D. (KBHB) – Another full scale search for a missing 9-year-old girl came up empty Wednesday.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s office says over 80 people were joined by two dog teams and a helicopter in the search for Serenity Dennard.
Dennard hasn’t been seen since running away from the Black Hills Children’s Home near Rockerville.
After 7 hours of high intensity searching, no trace of the little girl was found.
Officials say they plan to resume searching this weekend, as weather permits.
Improved weather conditions and less snow cover allowed crews to conduct a search today.
Despite the fact Wednesday’s search came up empty, Rapid City Police Chief Karl Jegeris remains hopeful.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says they appreciate the inter-agency efforts put forth today by Pennington County Search and Rescue, Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Fire Department, Pennington County Fire Search Assistance Team, New Underwood VFD, Battle Creek VFD, Doty VFD, Rockerville VFD, Rapid Valley VFD, Box Elder PD, Pennington County Emergency Management, SD Wildland Fire, SD GF&P, SD Highway Patrol, US Forest Service, Custer Search and Rescue, Black Hills Aerial Adventures, and Wolfpack Working Dogs from the Lead/Deadwood area.
