PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Senate Commerce & Energy Committee heard testimony on SB203 on Thursday.  The bill increase the minimum age to purchase a lottery ticket.

Prime sponsor of the bill is Senator Michael Rohl of Aberdeen who is looking to raise the age limit from 18 to 21.

Opposing the bill was Norman Lingle with the South Dakota Department of Revenue.

Lingle discuss the cost will have an impact on the South Dakota budget.

Bill Van Camp, lobbyist for the South Dakota Retailers Association, discuss their opposition to the bill.

The bill passed the committee on a 5-3 vote and will be on the Senate floor Tuesday.
