PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee held a hearing Friday on SB46, titled “to protect fairness in women’s sport”

Dan Swartos, Executive Director of the South Dakota High School Activities Association, says they have had a successful trans-gender policy in place for several years.

Susan Williams, a resident of legislative District 6 and a parent of the trans gender child, says sports participation is crucial.

Mark Miller, counsel to Governor Kristi Noem, says girls and women are already losing.

Senator Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown made a “do-pass” recommendation, which the committee approved on an eight to one vote, sending the bill next to the Senate floor.
