PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Senate Taxation Committee heard testimony on SB7. The bill with the amendment included from the last meeting did the following: An Act to modify the tax rate on and tax distributions for gold severed in this state and to create a new fund for rural water infrastructure projects.
Prime sponsor of the bill was District 1 Senator Michael Rohl. He talks about the purpose of the bill.
There was no other testimony in favor of the bill. There was several speakers opposing the bill. One of them is Dakota Gold’s President & CEO Jack Henris.
Dakota Gold is based out of Lead and representing the District in the South Dakota Senate is Senator Randy Deibert who questions the process.
The Senate Tax Committee deferred it to the 41st day on a 7-0 vote effectively killing the bill.
