Senator agrees that special session for flooding not needed right now

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem said last week that a special session of the legislature for storm and flood damage was not necessary right now.

She described damages from floods and storms this year as some of the worst natural disasters the state has seen.

Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton says he now agrees with the Governor.

Kennedy says legislators had been talking about using some of the rollover funds in the state budget.

Noem said she may ask for more federal disaster declarations in the wake of tornadoes and continued flooding.
