Senator Bolin comment on rules used for spending on housing infrastructure projects

CANTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The first bill the South Dakota legislature passed this year was one to authorize spending two hundred million dollars in state and federal funding on housing infrastructure projects.

So far, that program has not started and may not for a while.

The Executive Board of the legislature last week heard from officials with South Dakota Housing that rules necessary for the program to operate may not be ready until August.

Senator Jim Bolin of Canton is a member of the E-Board.

Bolin says he is hearing from development groups in his district.

Bolin says they didn’t really get a good explanation of the delay.

The money can be used for land and infrastructure improvements needed for housing projects.
