SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – South Dakota politics continues to pick up as another name for a statewide seat has made his intentions known formally.
South Dakota’s lone U.S. House seat has its fair share of candidates looking to follow the current placeholder, Dusty Johnson, who is running for governor, and another one has entered the fray as state senator Casey Crabtree looks to be South Dakota’s America First candidate.
Casey Crabtree describes himself as a pro-business and pro-agriculture candidate.
In this year’s legislative session, he successfully passed bills that protected facilities from agro-terrorism and banned the possibility of sanctuary cities in the state.
“I look forward to taking that same America First agenda that we’ve delivered here in Pierre and making sure that we are delivering that out in D.C.,” Crabtree said.
By trade, Crabtree works in economic development for Heartland Energy and believes he can take his skills to D.C. To create jobs for Americans.
“I have worked with and helped communities and businesses start, thrive, and expand. It has created jobs and put more money into people’s pockets, and the president has also been a developer.”
Crabtree says he wants to be an available and responsive representative and that if elected, South Dakotans will be more than welcome to reach out.
The primary elections are still nine months away, but Crabtree has no doubt in his mind that he’ll be able to continue the momentum all the way through.
