Senator Crabtree address property taxes

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Legislators in next year’s session of the South Dakota legislature will have to deal with some proposals for property tax reform.

District 8 Senator Casey Crabtree of Madison says he anticipates competing ideas.

One idea that came out of the interim committee studying property taxes would raise the state sales tax two percent to offset property tax rollbacks. Crabtree says he can’t support that.

Crabtree says they are hearing from counties and school districts about their tight budgets.

Crabtree appeared at a meeting of “Republican Friends” in Yankton.
