YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem vetoed a bill that was introduced late in the legislative session that would have limited her authority to spend federal dollars added to the state budget.
Senator Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says the dollars in question were retained in the general budget.
Hunhoff, Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Appropriations, says instead of the bill, members wrote a letter detailing the spending concerns.
Hunhoff says the biggest concern is that new ongoing programs will be started using the one time federal dollars.
The Appropriations Committee will meet several times during the interim to review how the federal dollars are being spent.
