Senator Mark Lapka charged for DUI

LEOLA, S.D. (Hub City Radio)-

District 23 Senator Mark Lapka was cited and now charged with DUI & failure to stop or furnish information following an accident by the McPherson County State’s Attorney Office.  This stems from an incident involving a combine that took place late Tuesday night near Leola.

Lapka has had no prior criminal charges other than a speeding ticket.  Both State’s Attorney Austin Hoffman and McPherson County Sheriff David Ackerman declined to comment any further as this is an ongoing investigation.

First offense of DUI is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.
