WASHINGTON, D.C.(KOTA)- South Dakota Republican Senator Mike Rounds is back in Washington DC following the passing of his wife of over forty years Jean last month.
While there is much work to do in a deeply divided congress, Rounds took the time to highlight his colleagues as he returns to the Capitol.
Among the first things on the returning Senators docket – Cattle. S.3229, the Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act is a compromise bill which bridges proposals from Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Deb Fischer (R-Ne).
Rounds was previously signed onto the Grassley proposal.
The South Dakota Stockgrowers Association has endorsed S.3229, though another cattle organization, R-Calf has concerns about the bill. Rounds said both opinions are worth considering.
Rounds said concerns remain regarding the long-term impact of S.3229, and that he will take his time making a decision on the bill.
