WASHINTON, D.C.(KCCR)- South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds isn’t concerned about a proposed cut of over 300-million dollars to the Essential Air Service program. The program provides subsidies to regional airlines in exchange for limited air service to large airline hubs across the county. Rounds says the Office of Management and Budget recommended the cut and other.
Rounds says in the letter from the Office of Management and budget to the Senate Appropriations Committee that E-A-S is funding less than full flights.
Rounds says the proposed cut is in a way political gamesmanship.
Rounds says there is strong support for E-A-S because it is a program utilized in almost every state in the country.
