WASHINTON, D.C.(KOTA)- Earlier this month US Senator Mike Rounds spent time in South Dakota’s cattle country to take concerns of producers to his congressional colleagues.
Now back in DC, Rounds says most producers had the same issue on their minds – cattle processors.
Rounds says in DC, the price to consumer often comes before the producer, a mindset he claims hurts the cattle industry.
Rounds said he is taking the issue to the Attorney General to look at it from an antitrust perspective.
Describing food independence as a national security issue, Rounds said the issues of the cattle industry have impacts felt in towns both big and small.
