South Dakota members of Congress reacts to U.S. House’s move to halt aid to Ukraine if Republicans take over

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Several republican House members have said if they retake control of Congress in November, they will move to reduce or halt US aid to Ukraine in their war with Russia.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says that would be a mistake.

Rounds says its more than a confrontation with Russia.

Rounds says the US has to also continue to strongly support Taiwan.

South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson says that would be a mistake.

Johnson says he supports more aid for Ukraine.

Johnson says some of the statements by republican members are just politics.

The US and western allies have provided hundreds of billions of dollars of military to Ukraine since the war began in February.
