PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- With the passing of media icon Ted Turner last week, many who knew him are remembering his ties to South Dakota.  One of those is U-S Senator Mike Rounds who first met Turner as Governor during the Governor’s Pheasant Hunt.

Turner invited Rounds to his Stanley County ranch, Bad River Ranch numerous times for dinner.

Rounds says Turner believed the Great Plains were made for buffalo which led to his purchase of large ranches in Stanley County.

Ted Turner was 87 years old.
