YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – While much attention has focused on the “Meth, we’re on it” campaign launched by the State of South Dakota, legislators working on the issue are waiting on more details.
Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton was on an interim committee dealing with controlled substances and says they did find some consensus.
Kennedy says meth treatment is expensive but probably cheaper than putting someone in prison.
South Dakota is the only state that still considers ingestion of drugs a felony.
Kennedy says they are all waiting to see what Governor Kristi Noem proposes.
Noem delivers her budget address next week Tuesday.
