WASHINGTON, D.C.(KMIT)- South Dakota Senator John Thune recently announced his intent to run for Senate GOP leader, the top spot in the Republican Party. Presumed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has criticized many in the Republican Party, including Thune, harshly and publicly, in the past. Senator Thune says he does not think that will affect their potential working relationship.
Thune says the border security issue is the most important one today.
He says the economy will be another big issue this election season.
Texas Senator John Cornyn has also announced his bid for Senate GOP leader.
