Senator Thune challenge Democrats to avoid potential govenment shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C.(KELO)- The Federal budget year ends September 30th, and a government shutdown is looming, as Congress can’t agree on spending.

Senators John Thune and Chuck Schumer had this battle a year ago…but they switched titles, with Thune becoming majority leader and Schumer now filling the minority leadership.

The game of finger-pointing across the aisle is back in Washington…with Republican and Democrat leaders in the Senate blaming the other side for a possible Government shutdown.
Thune says Minority Leader Schumer so far is rejecting a proposal similar to the one he made a year ago.

Republicans are proposing a short-term measure to keep the government operating until late November, to give the Senate time to debate appropriations bills in a more conventional fashion.
