Senator Thune discuss negative impact of government shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C.(KELO)- Republicans and Democrats are still in a standoff over spending…and the government shutdown is now in its 27th day.

That shutdown has led the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to declare a state of emergency…mainly due to the end of SNAP nutrition benefits this Friday.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune says the negative effects are spreading.

The Senate will reconvene today, after failing to reach agreement on ending the stalemate last week.
