Senator Thune looking to change Senate Rules on nominations

WASHINGTON, D.C.(KELO)- The gloves are coming off in the U-S Senate, and Majority Leader John Thune pushes to get hundreds of President Trump’s nominees comfirmed.

He says Democrats have obstructed the process in an unprecedented way, playing partisan games to hold up, oppose and block the nominations.

For the first time ever, he says none of the nominations have been allowed to advance uncontested.

Senator Thune has taken action to change Senate Rules, following a proposal made by Democrats two years ago.

It allows the approval of nominations in groups.

Without the change, Thune says clearing the current backlog of nominations would require 600 votes in the Senate.
