WASHINGTON, D.C.(KELO)- Senator John Thune says the Federal Aviation Administration needs to strengthen pilot training.

At a Senate hearing this week, he pointed to the value of using flight simulators to train pilots.

Currently, the bulk of the flight training hours for pilots take place in small single-engine planes that are nothing like the transport planes they’ll fly during their career.
