WASHINGTON, D.C.(WNAX)- The impeachment trial of former President Trump is set to start in the Senate next week. He will be charged with inciting the riot that led to a mob overrunning the US Capitol on January sixth.
South Dakota Senator John Thune says he is keeping an open mind.
Thune says the Presidents words and actions about the election inflamed a lot of people.
Thune says there should be consequences for actions but isn’t sure that Impeachment is the right process.
Under the Constitution, at least 67 Senators must support impeachment for a conviction.
