ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has planned a series of Walking Tours of Historic Districts coming up in September. Troy McQuillen will lead these leisurely one-hour walks through Aberdeen’s oldest residential neighborhoods. People will learn about the history of early Aberdeen, as well as architectural styles of the period.

Hagerty & Lloyd Historic District Tuesday, September 15 Meet at the ARCC South parking lot
Highlands Historic District Thursday, September 17 Meet at the Corner of 12th Avenue North & Main Street
Main Street Historic District Tuesday, September 22 Meet at the north Parking lot of Dacotah Prairie Museum
The walks were originally scheduled for earlier in the year, but were postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Gene Morsching, Recreation Superintendent, said that they are now doing all of them within about a week’s time.
There is no fee for these tours, but people wishing to attend need to put their name on an interest list by calling the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Office prior to the tour date.
