Severe Weather Preparedness Week begins Monday

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The National Weather Service will be doing Severe Weather Preparedness Week beginning Monday in South Dakota & Minnesota.

NWS Meteorologist Kelly Serr(Sire) provides tips to handle weather that will take place during the spring & summer months.

Serr talks about the difference between the Watch & a Warning.

Serr talks about what to do when you hear thunder & see lightning.

Serr discuss what to do in case of tornados.

Some counties may do sirens for tornado warnings coming up during this week.

Serr presents a motto the NWS uses for flooding.

The #1 killer for weather during this time of year is heat.  Serr talks about parameters use to post any advisories and warning for extreme temperatures.

Serr encourage everyone to keep hydrated and avoid any sugary drinks.
