Sheriff of Clay County comments on voter approved bond for new jail

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Voters in Clay County approved a thirty nine million dollar bond issue last month for construction of a joint law enforcement – jail facility. It would replace the near century old jail in the county courthouse.

Sheriff Andy Howe says they have a committee working on plans.

Howe says they want to move quickly to construction.

Howe says they will have to continue moving prisoners around.

Howe says they hope to have the capacity in the new jail to help adjoining counties with housing their prisoners.
