Shop Spink Campaign starting Monday

ABERDEEN, S.D. (aberdeennews.com) – Residents in and around Spink County have an opportunity to support local businesses through the Shop Spink Campaign that starts with a radio call-in program on Monday.

Gianna Lantero, executive director for Grow Spink, said the Shop Spink Campaign was inspired by the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce shop local event during which people were able to buy gift cards to support area businesses.

The radio call-in show runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who want to buy gift cards should call 605-472-4520 and select option 5. The number is to the Redfield School, but is only for orders placed on Monday as part of the radio show. The program will air on KQKD, 99.9 FM and 1380 AM.

“We’re utilizing the Redfield school phone system to help with this so we can field as many calls as we can, Lantero said.

Those who call in and place orders on Monday will automatically be entered in hourly drawings for donated products. As of Friday, about $29,000 in matching funds had also been donated. That means, while funding is available, a $25 gift card becomes a $50 gift card. Up to $500 in matching funds is available per caller, Lantero said, with a maximum of $100 per business.
