WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – Sioux Falls will be among the first cities in the country to have 5G broadband cell service go online.
South Dakota Senator John Thune has been pushing for the upgrades and says it is becoming a matter of national security.
Thune says the U.S. won the race to 4G and all the technology that go with it.
Thune says the technology will eventually spread to rural areas.
5G broadband service could provide data at up to 10 gigabits per second.
