Sioux Falls City Council approve 2025 city budget

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- The City of Sioux Falls has adopted a budget for 2025.

It doesn’t include money to purchase land for a proposed new convention center…but City Councilors have mapped out a plan to make that happen.

Council leaders Rich Merkouris (mer-KOOR-is) and Curt Soehl (SAIL) offered an ordinance to create a steering committee that would have authority to make the 8-million dollar purchase by using money from the city’s entertainment tax fund.

The Council approved first reading of that proposal, and also approved a down-sized 773-million dollar budget for next year.

That budget included nearly all of Mayor Paul TenHaken’s remaining spending requests.
