Sioux Falls City Council looking to address childcare

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Sioux Falls City Councilors are in the early stages of overcoming a shortage of childcare in the city.

In-home childcare operators are dropping out of the business because of increasing costs and lower profits.

Councilor Greg Neitzert (NIGHT-zert) wants city officials to reach out to those former operators to identify problems in the field.

The council may create a Childcare Coordinator position in city hall to develop plans to encourage people to enter the childcare field.
