Sioux Falls man identified in fatal crash east of Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, S.D. (Press Release) – A Sioux Falls man has been identified as the person who died Friday morning in a tractor-van crash east of Alexandria.

A Case Versatile 305 tractor, which was pulling a hose trailer used for waste handling work, was westbound on Interstate 90. The vehicle was rear-ended by a westbound 2001 Dodge Caravan.

Johnnie Hines, the 52-year-old driver of the Caravan, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Further investigation has concluded that the tractor was on the interstate illegally. Charges are pending against Jason Ingram of Kempner, TX, the 31-year-old tractor driver. He was not injured.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. The released information is preliminary only at this time.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
