Sioux Falls Mayor Tenhaken apologize for calling off Fourth of July celebrations

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Sioux Falls Mayor Paul Tenhaken is apologizing for a decision that threw a lot of folks’ Fourth of July plans into a tailspin.

With stormy conditions in the forecast for the 4th, the decision was made to cancel the 2024 Independence Day celebration festivities- including the 5K Fun Run, parade, picnic, and afternoon entertainment.

In a video on Facebook, Tenhaken described what he was looking at prior to the Fourth.

But as people may had noticed, yesterday’s weather had partly cloudy skies and sunshine.

Tenhaken says he’s sorry and that next year’s Fourth will be even better.
