SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- School bells will ring in about a month…and school administrators are putting the finishing touches on staffing.

Like all districts, Sioux Falls schools are still working on finding teachers for special education.

District HR director Becky Dorman says she still has eight openings in Special Ed.

A new state program to provide Special Ed on-the-job training is helping.

Overall, Dorman says the district is in a better staffing position than it was a year ago.

Dorman feels good with the pace of hiring.

The biggest need for the district now is substitute teachers.

Dorman says she has had to go to year-round hiring for subs.
