Sioux Valley Energy looking to rebuild

COLMAN, S.D.(WNAX)- Sioux Valley Energy, based in Colman, is in the middle of a major rebuild of its electric distribution system.  Through this fall the cooperative has spent almost fifteen million dollars for new substations and putting power lines underground.

Chief of Operations and Engineering Ted Smith says they need a balance of underground and overhead power lines.

Smith says as their customer numbers rise, the power demands are rising faster.

Smith says their rebuild is part of their long range planning.

Smith says they will be working on replacements and new lines for several years.
