Sisseton man sentenced for sexual abuse of a minor

SISSETON, S.D.(KXLG)- Larry Levi Finley III, 26 years old of Sisseton, SD, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release for a conviction of Abusive Sexual Contact.

Finley was indicted for Sexual Abuse of a Minor by a federal grand jury in October 2022. He pleaded guilty to Abusive Sexual Contact on May 4, 2023.

According to court documents, between approximately July and October of 2021, Finley engaged in abusive sexual contact with a minor victim. The victim was over 12 years younger than 16 and could not consent to sexual contact. The abuse took place within the tribal lands of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Sioux Tribe.

This case was investigated by the FBI and the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Tribe’s Law Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri prosecuted the case.

The sentencing took place on July 31, 2023, and Finley was immediately remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
