YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- A small fire caused smoke and water damage to some areas of Yankton Middle School.

Assistant Fire Chief Larry Nickels said they responded to the fire alarm.

Nickels says they were able to keep the fire contained.

Nickels says the fire was in a second floor classroom.

Fire units were on the scene for about three hours.
