Smittys Drop Two In Capital City On Wednesday

PIERRE, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Smittys fell in a doubleheader to Pierre Post 8 on Wednesday night; falling in game one 10-6 & dropping a 2-1 decision in game two.

Head Coach Josh Steinwandt joined David Tukesbrey & Matt McClure on “The Sports Hub” earlier on this week and he said, at times, the Smittys have just one ‘one bad inning’ and that’s been their undoing in games this season. Unfortunately for them, that trend continued in the first game against Pierre, in a 10-6 loss.

Aberdeen trailed just 3-1 going into the last of the fifth inning and then Post 8 put up a crooked number seven on the board and would cruise for the win. The Smittys didn’t fold, putting up four in the sixth and one more in the seventh, but it was too little, too late. In defeat, the Smittys got an RBI each from Joe Cogley, Michael Dutenhoffer, Benny Eisenbeisz, Drake Soderlund & JaSean Rivera.

In game two, it was a pitchers dual & Pierre was able to squeak out a 2-1 win, behind seven strikeouts on the hill from Hudson Shaffer.
